hmmmm, sounds good.
I can't wait to get there. The weather here now is really nice. Came topless to work this morning wearing only a t-shirt and it was definitely bearable.

Hey John, which one do you have? I haven't a clue about these, so rather buy something I know works and we know allows us to sync, so I don't end up talking to some gendarmerie or guardia civil.

PS I was looking at getting this one: http://cgi.ebay.ie/UNIDEN-PRO510XL-40-CH-CB-RADIO-PRO-510XL-BRAND-NEW-/230580041882?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item35afa4389a

This winter was very mild.

I suggest you this website: http://en.eltiempo.es/blanes.html

Curious, the nights are cold in Olot:

Cloggy, DO NOT purchase a C.B. radio from the U.S... Purchase a European standard radio, otherwise you'll just be left talking to yourself!!

Here's the one I have, but bought it through a friend of Ollie's (Stig--formerly of this parish) along with an aerial for €75. Not sure if that guy has more but give Ollie a shout and he may be able to help ya!

John,
Will you bring it with you?

Guys,
I'm gonna get one, but before doing so, maybe we can get a group discount.
Anyone interested?

Walkie talkies are nice and do come in handy often, but Cloggy wants to buy a new gadget and 'rubber-duck' properly. I weally wanna buy one of them thingies.
I'm emailing with these crows to see if they do group discounts on complete packages...

To be perfectly honest, range is determined by a number of factors including things like aerial tuning, where the aerial is located in the vehicle, the area in which you're transmitting from , etc. Anything transmission over 2 to 3 miles is gonna be harder to hear as the units are limited to 4 watt output. Do not expect them to perform like say uhf marine radios , it's not what cb's are designed to do. Where they really excel is in the "convoy" type situation where a number of vehicles, although out of line of sight, are in communication with each other. It is possible to buy linear amplifiers to boost the output, but they are illegal in most countries.

@ Steve, the power output on those walkie-talkies is only 0.5 watt...you'd shout further

@ Cloggy, any of them would do. Just remember that you have to buy an antenna ... magnetic mount is the best option as far as I'm concerned..no holes to drill and can be removed for security when not in use. As with all things, the dearer ones do tend to give the best performance, but what level of performance we need is not all that great, it's only for the craic!!

John

OOPS Cloggy, I see you're asking them about complete packages...

Cool site. :D
The centre loaded aerial is the best, but would REALLY look silly on an mx5, WAY too big.
Let us know how you get on with the group buy thing.
