Nice one Robin, sure you could arrange to hook up with Cloggy and his mate who are travelling down from Louth . There is also an invitation to stop over in Newbridge on Saturday night...

Cloggy, what's your plans, travel wise...Saturday night or Sunday morning???

Spot on there Paschal, M7 junction 10 it is.

This event opens to the public from 9:30 am, hence the need for us to be there @8:30am. Packed lunches everyone 8)

feck lads, that's really, really early.
Some of you have seen my face in the morning last weekend and it's not a pleasant sight. Image I have to look at that every day.
Anyhoo... http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=53.1629,-6.82401&spn=0.02,0.02&t=k
As you see, the satnav coordinates for exit 10 (just after newbridge) are: 53.1629, -6.82401
Can anyone confirm this is the exit we're going for?
Than once I'm off the exit, where do we go?

Sofie tells me it should take me 1 hour to get there, so I'll join Sun morning.
Not sure if Sean is fit for this, but we'll let ya'll know.

greetings,
Cloggy

Yep, that's the place. B&Q/Halfords/HarveyNorman etc car park is just off that junction as you head back into Naas..Left at top of slip road, Left on first roundabout, Right on second one(Lidl), turn right at end of road, assuming your coming to J10 from the Dublin Direction.

Anyone coming from the other direction, take the slip at J10, Right at top of slip, cross over bridge, left at first roundabout, right at second(Lidl), turn right at end of road.

my number is 087-2656053.

Hope Your mate can make it Cloggy. The offer of staying overnight Saturday in Newbridge still stands.

Clio, I'll put you first on the standby list because we only have permission for 10 cars. You can always join us in the paddock as a spectator if you like, but we're only allowed the 10 therein. Will be confirming names and numbers on saturday so watch this space

John

btw none of us will be driving at racing speed if we do get on the track, afaik it's gonna be a drive - by (without the shooting!!!)

Cloggy, can you confirm if your friend is attending, even with the early start, as Clio here is now on standby??

Sorry about all the edits lads, but I'm not sure if passengers are covered by the sponsorship so expect to pay €10 at the gate for your co-pilots! (Maybe we won't have to , but be prepared)

Mondello Jap-Fest Line-Up Finalised

Exciting Mondello Jap-Fest Line-Up Finalised

The programme for the most exciting and varied line-up of track action ever seen at an Irish Car Show has been finalised with just days to go to the 2009 Mondello Jap-Fest. Irelands only Japanese Motoring and Motorsport Festival takes place this Sunday with a full day of on-track entertainment set to entertain Japanese and modified car enthusiasts like never before.

The three biggest events of the show will be the final rounds of the Prodrift Super Series and Irish Time-Attack championship and the Mondello Drag Sprint in association with ‘Sideways Racing’. The Drifting Super Series pitches the best of the UK’s drift competitors against the top Irish drivers in the first championship to combine rounds in the UK and Ireland and has proved a big hit with fans in its first season. The Time-Attack championship is a closely fought series for modified road cars where each driver’s fastest single lap determines the results and for this weekends final the regular Irish contenders will be joined by a number of guest drivers swelling the entry list to over twenty five cars. A new part of Japfest is the introduction of the "pinkest car" award. Several entries have been taken so far including the well renowned Newbridge based Pink Mx5 owned by John Leamy from Mx5Ireland who will also showcase their cars at Japfest this year by kind invitation of Mazda Ireland. Drag Racing fans will be able to witness the first ever Mondello Drag Sprint to be run in association with Irish Drag championship organisers Sideways Racing who will bring their full organisation to the event including their International starting light and results recording system to Mondello for the first time. Entries for the Drag Sprint are still open but may not be accepted on the day.

Working around the feature motorsport events will be a full day of track activity which will include Drift Practice, Track Time sessions, stunts, Autotesting and demonstration runs. In addition to the Prodrift competition, drifting fans will be extremely well catered for with additional Drifting Practice sessions also scheduled and an appearance by Ireland’s top Rally driver Eugene Donnelly, who will sample drifting for only the second time as he performs some demonstration runs.

The morning of the event will be filled by Track Time sessions for clubs and individuals as they warm their cars up before putting them on display in the Mondello paddock for the remainder of the show. The stunt entertainment will be a new addition to Mondello Jap-Fest for 2009 and will be performed on two wheels and four. World famous precision driving expert Paul Swift will provide the four wheeled action as he demonstrates some of his most famous manoeuvres, which could also include some two wheel driving. Keeping to two wheels or less will be Motorcycle Freestyle rider Mattie Griffin who will be the first motorcycle act to appear at Jap-Fest. Rounding out the active part of the show will be the ever popular Autotest display will take up its usual space in the paddock and will be on the go throughout the show.

Show visitors who need a break from the non-stop track action will be able to chill out with a walk around the static displays in the Mondello paddock area. These will include Irelands top Modified Japanese Cars in the ‘Modified Motors’ area, a show and shine competition, the latest offerings from Japanese and Korean car manufacturers, trade stands, all of the competition cars taking part in the track activities and many other attractions.
