Anyone mind if I tag along? I'm in Bangor Co. Down so can meet you en route somewhere if thats ok?

Excellent choice of route by the way, great driving and stunning views.

I take it you'll be heading through Belfast to get onto the coast road? I'll hook up with you there if that suits?

Is this solely for MX5s? I have a mate with a supercharged S2000 that might want to come along if thats ok?

Cheers!

Phil.

If he can keep up then fine

Well, I hate to say it, but I wont be able to make the NI run. If it's on. My wife is expecting and I just can't justify the long trip away. A big auld drive for a southern lad in one day. I'll try to make something closer to home. maybe a kerry trip or sumthin....... Have a good un! 8)

Looking less likely for me as I have a late night function on Saturday and the more I look at the mileage involved for a one-day run, the less appealing it's becoming .
Better to be safe than sorry I suppose

Well things haven't gone that well with the test run so looks like I won't be able to make it.
Got steam from the rad cap which i seem to have traced back to a dodgy temp sensor on the thermostat not kicking fan in and car getting to hot. Will need to order one but being a b'hol.....
Also got some smoking from engine bay which i am hoping is wd40 on the zorst burning off and moving its way up to the engine bay with some kind of suction/draw. but will need to check.
All in all i just don't trust the thing to go on a long run yet.
(Thrice bitten 4th time shy!!!)
i.e. i aint coming home on a trailer for the 4th time.

Sorry guys
hope you have a good run and take some pics. Maybe we can organise another run up north in the summer.

I read the proposed run is now Saturday only - unfortunately this doesn't suit me as I can't leave here until mid-afternoon. My plan was to meet up Saturday night or early Sunday morning. Overall it looks less and less likely that this run will happen......this weekend anyway. Given the interest expressed in such a run, and the fact that, for various reasons, people can't now make it, should we reschedule it for later in the year?

The weather forecast for the rest of the week (up to Friday anyway) ain't great either...maybe that's another excuse for a later date, when we can get some topless motoring in (althoug it is Ireland, and May/June/July can be just as wet'n'windy as March!).

A later date will hopefully allow babies to be born, exams to be sat, smokey bits to get sorted and Sean should have made it back from Paris (and my mother-in-law will be able to baby-sit this time).

BTW, talking of Paris, I booked flights/accommodation for Paris in October for the Motor Show...anyone else heading that way?

Fair play

Postby robmx5 » Mon, 31 Mar 2008 9:18 +0000

Ivan,

Fair play to you - it looks a bit lonely on Carlingford pier compared to the last time we were there - did you go all the way to the Antrim coast ?
