Unfortunately the Nurburgring is out for me....the second week in May I'll just be back from Spain. Wales might be a possibility, depending when (and child-minding arrangements!).

The coast road is one of my favourite drives....it comes a close second to driving the MK1 along the Southern French coast from Nice to Perpignan.

The full run, as far as I remember it, heads out from Carrickfergus (6 miles north of Belfast) up the craggy coastline passing Larne, Glenarm, Cushendall and Cushendun to Ballycastle. If you are really keen, the road to Fairhead is fun (very steep in places) and worth the trip. If the weather is good there are some beautiful views (on a clear day I think Scotland is visible). From Ballycastle I usually took the north coast road through Ballintoy to Bushmills and onto Portrush, finishing off at Portstewart. This road takes in the Carrick-a-reed rope bridge and The Giants Causeway, as well as White Rocks beach in Portrush and the strand at Portstewart.

Yes I think its obvious anyone travelling from the South will want to stay overnight....certainly me anyway.
AFAIR Frank S had recommended some of those roads as a 'must do' before.
Looking forward to it already... :D

Its been a few years since we were up North....that reminds me of the Carlingford run...now that was fun...

Are you coming on this run Colm???

Regards John.

Count me in

Yes -the last run up north was a great weekend - great roads around Co. Down. Drove the Larne coast road all the way to Balycastle last year in the family car - beautiful drive, especially if we get the weather.
