Have had a rethink about a European trip, the Barcelona idea is just too much given the price of petrol/tolls etc

Relooking at the possibility of a trip to the Belgium Grand Prix at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, GP is on Sunday 25th Aug 2013.

Rosslare to Cherbourg on Tuesday 20th Aug 2013 arriving Wed Morning
leisurely drive over 1/2 days
Get to Spa Friday
Qualifying on Sat
GP on Sunday
Back via Paris with stopover in Paris on Monday night
Sail from Cherbourg Tuesday 27th arriving Rosslare Wed morning

Cost are still the biggest issue, this will be much cheaper than the Barcelona trip

I have pulled some costings together

Out Tuesday Ferry back Tuesday = 8 nights, 2 nights on Ferry so 6 nights accommodation in France/Belgium

Obviously some costs are shared when travelling in pairs

436 miles from Cherbourg to Spa so circa 1,000 miles round trip allowing for detours. No allowance for travelling within Ireland to/from Rosslare. Estimating 165 litres petrol @ 1.75 per litre = €280
Accommodation based on 6 nights @ €40 per night. We can probably make some savings on this figure, it was cheaper than this last year

Oh how I'd love to say "YES" straight away but in the recent past I've been on 2 continental road trips without herself and I think that I'd be risking it by going on this one without her as a co driver..that , however, probably puts it beyond our budget..anyway I'd rather give the money to the government because they are going to use it wisely and get us out of this mess..oh sorry, that last sentence was for posting on www.ironicireland.com .

Id love to go on this, might have enough funds if it's in August too, nice bit of time to save up some money, I'm a possibility

no can do, august is the only month i cant take holidays

Just bumping this one up. Have to make holiday plans shortly. I take it, from the responses to date that this is not a runner; in my opinion we would need 5/6 cars to make this a runner. Final call.........

Not for us this year as we're Mexico bound for a wedding in July
