Brake Pipes

Hi lads,
The other day my Fathers roadster had its N.C.T but unfortunately failed on a visual inspection of the front right brake pipe[drivers side].
The next day I jacked her up to discover the slightest amount of surface rust that I have ever seen.But, my dad wanted to do the job properly so ordered up a complete brake pipe set, which arrived the other day.
So my question is has anybody ever done a brake pipe job and whats involved it seems fairly straightforward other than the bending of the new pipes?

Thats them bud.Alot of people call them pipes or lines, the rest seem to be in good condition so i might just do the one first to get him through and then the rest when the weather picks up.
It would fail on what appears to be the most complicated pipe to replace all bends and twists on it.

hmmm, i thought they came already bent but maybe not..............

the best way to do it

remove your old pipe then bend the new pipe to shape , using the old one as a template. You can get away without using a pipe bender , just be very gentle when bending the pipes.

its fairly straight forward and easy enough

Which pipe was it exactly?

Cheers lads for the quick replies.Steve,its the front right drivers side pipe going from the brake master cylinder to the caliper.
Paul, it seems like I will have to straighten the pipe a little to fully remove it.So what do you guys think would be the best place to start closest to the cylinder or the the caliper and what would be the best way to stop brake fluid from pissing al over the place when I remove the pipe.

front drivers side should be able to be wriggled free with a bit of patience.

to stop the brake fluid leaking everywhere there is a couple of things you can do
1. plug it with bluetak - downside here is sometimes if your a bit brutal bluetak gets bedded in the pipe internals.

2 tape a gubber glover over each end to prevent mess - use ordinary insulating tape or electricians tape. - actually fit the rubber glove over the end of the pipe. -i prefer this method
