Replacing Soft Top on MK1

Postby Paddyman » Wed, 01 Feb 2017 12:03 +0000

Hi All,

I bought one of those replacement Soft tops from Prestige Auto. I believe there are companies in the U.K. that specialise in replacing these. Is there anyone in the Cork area that does this or could someone recommend a place to get it done? I am thinking Body Image in Ballincollig as I have heard good things about them. Your man told me he has never done it before but will have a look for me if I want.

Cheers,

Paddy

I'm not sure who does fitting locally in the Cork area but there are a good few online tutorials if you fancied tackling it yourself.
By the way, who are Prestige Auto ? Do they specialize in soft top roofs ?

Had both hips replaced recently so wouldn't be able for it.

This is a link to their site:

Can't remember which one I bought but it wasn't a mohair for £370 that's for sure. Thought I got something vinyl for around the €150 / 200 mark. Have to go up in the attic and see what it is. I thought it seemed reasonable at the time, but I was heavily medicated.

Do you have a website?

Anyone know someplace I could get this done?

Your man in Ballincollig is not willing to do it so it looks like I will have to travel for this. I suppose anywhere within reason of Cork is what I am looking for. Ideally South Tipp but more realistically it's probably gonna be Dublin.

I've popped a message to someone in Cork who used to do them. Will let you know if he comes back to me.

Was that Finbarr Hennessy that you contacted Steve ? If so, he has passed away.

Thanks for the PM Steve
I'm in Cork, Douglas to be exact. Did you get replacement 'Hood Tension Cables' ? Always worth replacing them at the same time.

Look up at it from underneath, there is a screw hidden in the depths of the soft rubber bit
