Just got new Toyo Proxies T1R to replace my aged Yokos. Incidentally I got 195/55 to replace the original 185/60s. They fitted perfectly. Got them from Camskills & had them delivered to (& fitted by) www.thewash.ie, near Sandyford for E12.50 a corner.

Anyway, the brother (who knows a lot more than me about cars) tells me I should run in the new tyres for a coupla hundred miles before starting to chuck the car around.

How long do you run your new tyres in for?

There is absolutely no need to run in modern tyres.

New tyres are coated in polish or silicon dressing compound to stop them drying out and to keep them looking new. Best to take it easy for the first 50 miles, especially if the roads are wet/greasy. Or burn them up a bit if it's the rear tyres !

Many thanks. Certainly when I brought them home from the tyre place they felt pretty slip-slidey. Since then I've done a few miles so I'll test them out properly now!
