Petrol cap lever is stuck in Mk2

Hi

Inside my MK2 there is the middle compartment between the seats, where you can find the levers for the boot and petrol cap. However the petrol lever has become stuck, it does not move at all. I can open the cap by going into the boot and releasing it manually. However i need to get this problem solved. Has anyone got any advice or is this one for a mechanic?

Cheers

Dave

easy fixed

when you lift your petrol flap, you will see towards the back a little black nut.

undo it then remove the washer and pull the cable back into the boot
use loads of silicon spray ( yellow can from halfords) or wd40 would do if thats all you have. spray the little latch that pops in and out. If yours is stuck you might needs to force it to get it going.
put it back together and job done, 20 mins and a bit of lube and its the cheapest fun you will ever have

try that and see how you get on
