Seeking some advice or help .
Recently bought my first MX5 – JDM (Mk2) Spec bought from a sport car specialist dealer in outside Manchester in the UK. Have to admit it may have been love at first sight.
Car went in for NCT last Saturday and failed on top Item :
1) Handbrake imbalance ( New Cable ordered to sort )
2) Emissions ( Were up at 0.7)
Have anyone experienced this before . Car has just been serviced prior to NCT .
1) Is it worth while replace Lambda sensor or will this have any effect .
2) Or take the tradition approach – Hot engine and put a couple of cleaners through it .
Any help appreciated

Best bet is to post up all the exact readings to give people a better idea. I have failed emissions on literally everything at some point or another since the nct came in.

Inbalance is most likely seized caliper not really cable. Emissions is probably either airflow meter or maybe throttle body.we have all parts if you need them but get it checked out first.Robert 086 8226506

Now I'm confused..in my reading of this, your reading of 1.00 is EXACTLY midway between 0.97 and 1.30??? What am I missing here??

Lambda is a fail if is NOT between those figures, so yours is spot on.
Have you got your timing advanced?

Engine is running rich, replace air filter and/or oxygen sensor.
Give it a good hard drive to burn off excess carbon and see will it pass. If not, o2 sensor or a bunged up cat.

Cheers for the advice
Car has just been servived - so air filter is a Brand new .
Just looking at the internet at the Oxygen sensor on the net and there seems to be literally hundreds of different Types.
Is there one in particular I should get - would a secound hand one do the trick ... ?
