HANDBRAKE..HOW TO OVERHAUL?

I have a few days off next week and intend to get my handbrake sorted for nct. Anyone got tutorials or info on how to get it sorted? Gave it to a "mechanic" recently and got some half-assed excuse from him as to why it wouldnt apply.. he said that new discs might be needed as there was insufficient travel on pads when handbrake applied... I reckon the problem lies with the cables although I could be wrong..(calipers are new).

If there is anyone out there willing to do the job with me, I'll travel(within reason) or can someone even recommend a good mechanic who knows 5's? I'm in Kildare

John,

I replaced the rear cables recently & found it a simple, if uncomfortable job. What are your symptoms? Is the handbrake weak on one side or both?

The Grainger manual worked very well for me with this job. I'd recommend that you use it (you can borrow mine, I'll PM you with my number).

Thanks Simon, got your pm. :D
Handbrake is weak on both sides :?
Just finished a week off and didn't even get to start the car.. A dent in a wheel is allowing air to escape, so it has stayed dormant. :(
What part of the country are you located in yourself, Maybe I can get to collect that manual some weekend
