How much oil?

Postby tigger » Mon, 14 Apr 2008 2:37 +0000

Hi Folks,

Well after giving my 5 a service in a tech day at Ivans, I cant remember
how much oil goes into the 5 after cleaning out the old stuff.

I got a 5L bottle, i think its 3.5 litres? Anyway thanks for the info.

yeah, around that, just stop pouring and keep an eye on the mark on the dipstick every half litre or so after the first 3 litres ;-)

A local garage may take the old oil and other stuff (if you ask them nicely) and recycle them for you etc.
Phone around....

def bring the oil to the recycle centre/friendly garage.. I wouldn't suggest you put it in the drain.
I've about 40 litres I've been meaning to do exactly that with.. I was going to filter it and run the Benz on it but that project has been sidelined for a less messy one :)

Check with your local council/corporation. They should have disposal facilities at their recycling centres.

Yeah,i think by law the local councils have to provide an oil recycler (i know they have one in the main dump in Cork) Lets do our bit for the Polar Bears in the Antarctic!!
