Postby leamyj » Sun, 15 Sep 2013 8:05 +0000

Have a friend who failed nct on, among other things, the steering gaiters, can anyone briefly outline the procedure to remove and replace these? also Robert, would you have a good pair in stock??

I just replaced mine and its a fairly simple job. Your local auto factors can supply them for ~€25 and it takes an hour or so to get them on. You need a balljoint splitter to get the track rod ends (carefully) off the hubs and you need fresh grease for the elbows that the gaiters go over but it's not rocket science.

Buy your mate a Haynes manual for his birthday!

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem

Yeah we have some on racks but for 25e new ,probably better. But try not to use the universal type as they are crap and dont fit properly resulting in tearing agin within the year
