has anyone installed a hid kit to there mk1 NA ? basically i bought a kit today and want to install it,
i have installed these kits before, but for some reason i wasn't sure on the mx5 do i have to take off the light covers?
i also have to run power from the kit to the battery but the wire is no where near long enough how do i go about getting power to the battery or is there anyway of by passing it ?

or is some one had a step by step guide that would be great i think its the whole pop up light thing that is scaring me for some reason

I used to use a HID kit, had problems with it (don't think the bulbs liked the popups vibrations) so now have Osram nightbreakers (which are excellent).
For fitting, as far as I remember you need 12v, ground for the relay and you connect to one side of the headlight loom + tie the other side up? I think I did all the wiring behind the passenger side headlight. Grounded it to the inner wing there, ziptied the ballast under the light, ran the wire across in front of the rad under the front slam panel and did the same with the ballast on that side. For the 12v constant from the battery I used the little blue plug with sits on top of the passenger side wing.

are they worth putting in do i have to remove the headlight cover to fit them ?

emmm... worth trying... its completely reversable.
I used that plug to power mine, I put a female blade connector on the HIDs power wire to fit.

You'll need to take out the headlight, no need to remove the painted headlight cover, but you'll need to remove the black plastic surround, then the retaining ring (make sure you undo the ring's screws, not the larger headlight alignment screws).

I certainly would be trying these before any other lighting mods as they are an easy upgrade and an excellent bulb.
You will need the H4 version.
