RHW Relay

Postby Real Rayzor » Thu, 27 Nov 2014 1:02 +0000

Hi all. I have a 2002 MK2.5 And My heated rear windows on both my soft/hard don't work. The light on the button comes on when I press it but no joy at the windows. I'm assuming that it's the relay. I can't for the life on me figure out where the relay is, can anyone tell me where to look or offer any advise on how to fix this.

I did put a meter on the lugs at the windows and I'm getting zero volts.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi Steve. Thanks for the info. I just had a look and I can't see any relay there. I did find a 15amp fuse but I think that's there for the rear lights. I had a look in behind the panel and there is a recess going towards the front that has a cream coloured connector block but as far as can see there's no relay. I shone a torch in on the left side behind that metal plate that covers the petrol tank and I think there may be a relay on the loom. Could that be it??

Thanks again for the help

Hi Robert. I had a look there and found few relays. See picture.
I found 3 like the one in the picture, another slightly bigger with a different code again but none that looked like the one in your picture. I pulled one off and pressed the RHW button and the light did not come on. How do i know if that's the right one. I put a meter on it across the coil and got 94 ohms. That should mean that it okay! Right?
Confused at this stage TBA.

Comparing the pictures I think its the wrong relay you removed despite the light going out?? Confused myself now.!! Unless you removed relay for ignition which would cause hrw light to go out as its same as turning the ignition off

Hi Robert. Thanks for your help on this. Mystery solved.. Turns out there is a missing relay. I found a terminal block hidden away in the jungle of wires without a relay in it. I took one of the other relays out and put it in there and hey presto i have power at the window. So i think that's sorted..
I'll take a relay off ya if you have one. I'll ring you shortly.

Here are both relays but definitely the bigger one is for heated rear window as I have mk2 here myself and tried unplugging both and the bigger one is the hrw one.
