Help ! Need a good safe and NCT PASS GUARANTEED job on both front chassis rails on my Mk.II - 00 REG MX5.
The N/side is corroded on one panel only (these are box sections) ; the O/side however is corroded on both the bottom & on one of the sides as well.
NCT is on 13/05 so time is not on my side.

Hello David
Might be worth your while getting in touch with junk yard dog on mx5nutz , he brakes cars like autocheck in Dublin but also sells premade front chassis repair sections with all mounting points for anti roll etc , i think its a matter of cutting out old rusted rails and welding in these repair sections .
The engine might have to be removed though depending on how severe the tin worm is !
I think mazda mender did a how to on his blog.
It would save alot of the panel beatersd time if it worked out
The sections are about £35 a side
these are his dedails , hope it helps
Brian

These are major work to fit but would be the better job in long run.I would estimate cost of fitting them at 1 k minimum.Presuming they are full chassis leg as I cant see the video attachment. Or are they just repair sections??

As far as I know they are only repair sections but they take a good bit of work to fit . As I understand it if they aren't really badly rusted you may get away with doing the job with the subframe in place but if it's more serious the subframe , which means engine may have to be removed for proper access . I think the problem is that the mk2 and mk 2.5 rails are double skinned and the rust starts between the skins due to water and condensation ingress , mk1 only have a single skin rail . There was a chap on nutz epselling the oem mazda rail , I'll try and get the link and post it up .

This is the post , they are for a 2.5 so I'm not sure that they will fit but there's a good chance they will you would need to ask someone more knowageable than me

Here is someone else asking the same but with pics. Mazdamenders refers to this as cosmetic because it's an easy fix now....

Here is a link to his rail replacements

Drop him a line he is a no nonsense straight talker so he will give you an honest answer....
