More power from 90hp 1.6

I have a 90hp 1.6 mk1 just wondering what’s the cheapest best way to get more power, converting to 115hp 1.6 engine or 1.8 ? Or turbo ect ?

from what I remember, advancing the timing to 14 degrees and possibly swopping the cams from an early 1.6 engine.
TBH... swopping in an earlier 1.6 is probably the better option.

Re turbo, with its low compression its perfect for it I've a vague recollection that it is pretty much the same as the auto engine (best to google that to confirm).

ye I've heard that swell if going big boost its better, seriously thinking going down turbo route if I can afford it.
