Hi Sabik, sorry, can I ask a specific question? What don't you like about the CD player?

Thanks!

Just a bit basic... you have to hit ramdom or repite... thats all the sound is fine.

with the SD its hidden behind the face. so you can have loads of music in with out a multi disk changer in the big boot or bag of disks floating around the floor of the car. plus it doesn't stick out like a usb stick.

Oh I also can play music stored on my phone for when my sd card is in the van(I must pick up a new one).

As well Reesy been Aldi not sure anyone would be bothered stealing it I HOPE.

So I bought it - and of course the plug connector / harness thingy doesn't fit the Pioneer one in the car. So I've got some options:

- Try find an adaptor on the web (I've found some that look OK but am dubious whether they'll fit & if they whether all the connections will be right)
- Cut off the Pioneer harness & joint the wires to the ALDI adaptor that comes with it (I've got the wiring diagrams so in theory this should be doable with crimp connectors)
- Give it to a professional to sort out

I've not done this before so I'd appreciate any advice from those who have.

Hey guys,

Thanks for the advice. I looked around for an appropriate adaptor but couldn't find one, so took the harness that came with the new stereo and painstaking connected each existing wire one-by-one to the harness wires, with the help of the ALDI and pioneer wiring diagrams. Found a few issues:
- Most wires had been joined by just twisting together.
- One rear speaker had been cross-wired.
- Rear speaker outputs were also connected to the (non-working) headrest speakers.
- There was no live feed thru the ignition so I joined it to the permanent live as had been the case with the Pioneer. One day I might wire an ignition live from the cig lighter.

It works fine, and the sound, while a bit crude, is bright & lively, so perfect for my MX5.

Feel very pleased with myself for completing this intimidating job.

Hi Steve,

Well, I guess it would be handy but if I can get a feed from the cig lighter, that'd do fine. Probably fewer bits to remove, to get at it. Would prob need to see it all the way to the steering column, I think.

So yes please if you've nowt better to do but no sweat!

Cheers mate

Brill, thanks Steve.

Thinking about it, it'd be great to do the job properly & take a feed from the ignition itself, having got this far.
