Electric Aerial

Postby Paschal » Sun, 28 Feb 2010 3:25 +0000

My 01 mk 2.5 has a static aerial which I am assuming replaced the standard electric aerial at some time. Would love to replace it with an electric one, has anyone on here got one for sale? Thanks

Hi Paschal,

I have two of these from Maplin, one is in a box and one is missing its box. Both are completely new and unused - I bought it for another car, but sold the car before fitting the aerial.

eur20 for the boxed one
eur15 for the unboxed one

I shouldn't be allowed near the place. Once they start putting USB sockets and LCDs on things, my credit card starts vibrating...

I bought a dishwasher from Harvey Norman just 'cos it had a nice LCD display. I only went in to buy a panini toaster to start with !

I assume there is no difficulty fitting one of yours to the mx5, should be a straight swap. That being the case, I will take the unboxed one from you (given that the box will be going straight into the recycling bin). Looks like I will not be going to Carrickmines next Sunday (have just been told I have a confirmation to go to!), so I will arrange to get it from you some other time. Thanks a million, Paschal

Drat... I was a bit slow of the mark there!

I'm desperate to get mine replaced (temp static job at present). Bought one from a ...something masts company in UK, and delivered it over to the garage to fit last week, but they tell me it's not working :(

Frank, if you happen to buy another dozen of these on your credit card before Carrickmines, could you put one aside for me!!!!

Anyone else got one lying around?

I'll bring my boxed white-elephant to Carrickmines.. maybe someone has a magic screwdriver or something that will tell me if it's really broken or not...?

did / does, the Maplin one actually fit on the '5 ?? Reason I ask is, most, don't, as the space is very tight.

If it does, I'm off in for one as well :)
Quick! free up some money for your '5 buy an energy efficient house ! One swallow does not a Summer make....neither is it long enough to put your '5 back together....

It fitted in my Mark 2.5. Cannot comment for mark 1. See other post under "How do I" for the other problems I had.

Drat. Wish I'd had a look when we were sunning ourselves by the lake. I'm having a divil of a job replacing mine!

Just buy one from Maplins (Blanchardstown or internet) and organise a tech day, someone will fit it for you.

Mike set the bar with burger quality but you're welcome to try and better him ;-)

...I'm actually not too bad with the old BBQ. I just might do that.

Although I've got no garage, I do have a pretty large drive and an electric screwdriver.
