my aerial was taped up just checked there today that i have the automated one and its broken, it makes noise like it sounds like it should work just the aerial wont extend, how much are they to replace

Usual problem, The plastic gear on the end of the mast are worn so motor is turning. But no drive. Check it out butbI think mast section is about 45 e.. We have one only good electric aerial complete fotr 60 e

I changed the mast on the electric aerial on the Jag, it was pretty easy - it just slots in with a bit of careful timing as the mast has a toothed section on the bottom. The MX5 is similar, it appears. I picked up mine for £15 on ebay.

Yeah, "car-masts-uk" is the vendor. This is what I got:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/JAGUAR-Aerial ... 5d2624d9beJust checking now, he doesn't have ones for MX5s at the moment on ebay, but you get the idea... I wonder are the masts generic, because the motor just grips the toothed end of the mast and goes up or down to the extent of the mast's travel ?

I have damaged mast for measurments if that helps.

think ive identified the problem, there is no nylon wire running through it, thanks for your help
