I'm new to this site and would be grateful if anyone can advise me.I have a mx5 eunos 1600,1992.I am looking for information about where I can buy 2 rear brake calipers.I already bought a pair of second hand ones and they were faulty and the seller wont take them back.I'd be grateful if anyone can direct me to a site that I could get ones from that would be good enough.thanks in anticipation.

Has anyone tried changing the seals on the rear calipers? Do they last. Seen the rebuild kits on mx5 parts.

don't waste ur money

I did all 4 calipers on my own car, easy enough job to do. Never had any problems with them.

Has anyone tried sftmx5parts.co.uk for calipers ,seems like good value.

Rosita are you near Cork ? I can take a look at your calipers and tell you what you need to get, I'll even do the rebuild on them myself for free - you just get the rebuild kits yourself etc

Sometimes the pistons in the rear caliper rusts a lot and needs replacing but I'll show you all of that when taking a look so you can see it for yourself and I'll show you the little parts that are needed, no big fuss, no cost, just get the parts and I'll sort it out for you

Hi all,
Can I join this conversation?

I have a 99 mx5 1.8
In the mornings in my garage, when I try to move forward in my car,
there is resistance to move, a few rather loud creaking sounds,
and then the car rolls on.
Now I notice, it sounds like the break pads and
the break disc are in contact all the time.

I am intending to go to a mechanic for advice,
and let him have a look at what might be needed.
I just want to have a bit of homework done before he
talks me into a € fleecing.

I have always admired factory painted
break callipers.

Should I get my original callipers repaired/reconditioned
and DIY painted or splurge on new callipers with factory finished paint?

I know the 'new' choice would be very expensive,

however I would go the "repair/recondition" choice
if a few of the club members had good outcomes
from the repair/conditioned choice.
