1.6 Torsen LSD

Postby AdamOC1991 » Sun, 15 Dec 2013 9:10 +0000

Im looking to upgrade to a Torsen LSD.

Its a standard 1.6 model with an open diff at the moment.

would it be much more expensive to upgrade to a 1.8 with shafts and all...?

(Ill weld the diff if it'll pass NCT if anyone knows...?)

Have you tried Robert in Dublin 086 8226506
As I understand it the 1.8 diff is a lot stronger than the 1.6 ,I think you will also need the drive shaft
Good luck

Dont bother with the 1.6 version, they are shite. Get the 1.8 whether Torsen or standard welded. You wont break it.

Send a PM to autocheck (robert ) on here. I'm sure he has plenty and wont rob you either.

+1
Better again get him to supply 1.8 diff with rear sub frame , stub axles and rear top links attached, all that's needed then is to pull out old sub frame and diff together as one unit and refit new sub frame and diff as one unit .Much faster and you have a chance to clean/paint new unit , and remember this is a two man job ! both units are heavy and awkward so good trolly jack or better a transmission jack is needed !
Best of luck with it

Yeah we have subframes also but most need to be painted /cleaned up ,but as Brian says then you have complete refurbished back end.You could take away bits, get them cleaned up and I can refit the lot as you suggested ??
