Cheap MK3

Hi,
New to the forum, trying to pick up myself a MK3 on the cheaper (cheapest) end of the market... Thought there might be a few ideas floating around here... VRT seems too expensive to bother bringing one down/over.
Had one lined up, electric roof, 17s etc but it had been sold when I got myself sorted - 07 WW 5 Reg and all! Perhaps you've seen that one for sale?
Anyway, thanks for any help, hopefully get my new wheels soon!
Thanks,
Aubrey.

'06 £1950 for sale on DoneDeal. Slight bodywork damage but nothing serious by the looks. Might be worth a call if you are handy with the spanners [WHITE SMILING FACE] Good luck.

I wouldn't be to be honest... €2500 on it, €2850 on VRT to bring it down means €5350... plus damage repairs... it SEEMS purely cosmetic and it'd be nice to have an excuse for a new front bumper etc... Does this seem like a good option to anyone?

That looks like a nice and a bargain for someone. I would be tempted to go for a look but just couldn't justify it.

Never thought vrt would be so high! Not really worth then imo. There could be something else wrong with it + rust issues.. For €6500-€7000 definitely can get a much nicer car..

Yeah I assume the VRT calculator is accurate, it makes it not so worthwhile unfortunately... I'm finding very few mk3 '5s for the sale for good money... 3 of the ones with good prices online are actually gone already... 6500-7000 would be ideal... a nice dark blue one is there but it's from a dealer and they're not budging with the price...
Thanks for input... hopefully have something more positive to post soon!

Options currently stand at 08, 140k, maroon, 1.8, softtop OR 07 45k, grey, hardtop, 1.8 for about 600 quid more?
I can't find much that would make the 08 any better especially with that mileage... and a hardtop would be nice. They're pretty similar other than that - main difference other than the roof is the 08 one has foglights but that's not a dealbreaker.
would there be any advantage opting for the cheaper 08? I'm leaning towards the hardtop '07 and taking the plunge paying more for it.

Big difference in mileage! Definitely grey for the reasons you mentioned! It's worth to properly inspect the cars tho that everything is right. Any photos? More details, service history etc.?

Both look good to me. Go and have a look at them..take for a spin.. See how you feel. Why mk3 if you don't mind me asking? Have you looked at mk1,2?

I'm getting the Grey hardtop one in the coming days! Delighted! Had a chat on the phone with the owner and everything seems to check so not expecting any surprises upon viewing... I've been trying to find some good things to look out for on the MK3s... this only has 44kms on it, one owner who is also a driving instructor and she seemed to really know her stuff.
Why Mk3? I'm not sure.. was considering Altezza, A4 or something in the regard... Coming from an 01 Astra right now... but a friend has a s2000 and I just said feck it I'll go something a bit more fun! Haven't been driving long either so insurance became a factor.
Eventually decided on an Mx5 and was certainly intending on the NA/NB or MK1-2.5 but thought as this will be my day to day car and it being Ireland I thought the MK3 would be nicer generally. One of those things that i just got in my head and have had tunnel vision since.
No regrets I say! Can't wait to get my hands on it.

Well done and congratulations, hope all goes well! Very few if any mk3 owners here on forum so it's good to have you here. Were are you based?

Collecting it on Sunday... we'll have that and an s2000 in the driveway - a seemingly heated rivalry!
Yeah I've noticed the lack of mk3 presence here. They're dropping in price big time now though so maybe a few more will start popping up!
Based in Dublin midweek and usually back home to Wicklow on the weekends, probably where I'll be doing most of my driving.
