Mark 2.5 passenger seat

Hoping someone can help. I have a problem with the air bag sensor in the passenger seat (it detects whether someone is sitting in the seat and activates the air bag. It also doubles as a mechanism to detect a Mazda approved child seat). Anyway, it looks as if the sensor is all crumpled up under the upholstery with some of it poking through. This, I think, is why the air bag lights are displayed on the dash. So, to cut a long story short, I am on the look out for a mark 2.5 (2001) passenger seat. Unfortunately, Robert does not have one in stock, can anyone else help. NCT overdue. Thanks for help Paschal

try to find what resistance the pad sensor is (google) and fit a resistor of the same value into the plug for the pad . This will fool the ecu . Might buy time till you get a seat.

Hi I am based in Tullamore. Don't have an NCT appointment yet as I am only putting the car back on the road on April 1st. Borrowing a seat is an option; I will see if I can source a replacement before I go begging (and borrowing), assuming the sensor is my problem

have you checked the connectors under both seats are connected up firmly? They can come loose from forward/back motion.

I have mk2.5 seats, will check this eve if they have wiring (you can have the sensor + wiring if I do), you are more than welcome to borrow it for NCT.

Paschal, you can put a resistor across the plug when you disconnect it from the seat pad.
Steve or someone handy on here may be able to find the correct resistance of a working seat unit using a multimeter set to ohms.

Then you can get a resistor of a similar rating to fool the ecu and put the light out.

Problem is, passenger bag wont deploy in an accident so its only a temporary fix to pass the nct.
