Well lads,

New to this forum and I've been told this is the place to go for all things mx5.

I'm after a mk1 that is rust free and relatively clean. Budget will depend on car but will the right amount for the right car.

Have my heart set on a red one although it not essential.

What's out there ?

Welcome Barry !

My advice would be buy the best that you can afford. And either an original Irish car or a direct import from Japan would be
best in terms of lack of corrosion. Of these two, the Japanese JDM model will be better spec'd. I would also avoid the later
1.6 Mk1 with the 90 bhp motor - an earlier 115 bhp 1.6 or a 1.8 model would be good !
Scan Donedeal too and see what's about.

Seen that yeah it looks a good one alright. I'm after a red one though ideally if you know of any that might be coming up for sale? Budget is up to 3k for the right car

Ok I will keep an eye out.Unfortunately the red paint seems to fade a lot which results in lot owners polishing the cars a lot over the years which eventually the paint bares out in areas.Worn away basically.

Yeah I've noticed that on the few I've looked at it, once it's relatively clean it wouldn't bother me to much. 085-1149688 Is my number if you see anything come up I'm not in a mad rush to get one so willing to wait for the right car. Cheers
