Fuel pump on turbo mx5s

Postby mx5ideways » Tue, 20 Aug 2013 9:47 +0000

Has anyone's fuel pump given up on their turbo or supercharged cars? I've a feeling mine is after going, will be checking it for sure tomorrow, I was driving pretty hard up through the gears earlier and in 5th gear it started losing power and died, it started again but was missing and cut out when I went to pull off, I couldn't hear the fuel pump priming up when I turned on the key (could always hear it before) and it wouldn't start again. A friend told me they can give up trying to pump alot more fuel and since I've 330cc beams injectors (around that) and about 200bhp (maybe more) plus the cars 23 years old I've a feeling it's gone.

it could well be gone. Have you tried grounding gnd and ten in the diagnostics box? The fuel pump should run then.
If it does, you might have a sticky relay.

Check your fuel tank for rust. This will eventually put an end to your pump.
