Wideband O2 sensor location?

Postby davith501 » Wed, 25 Mar 2015 7:24 +0000

Can I use new o2 sensor in the same place as the oem one or should I get it moved closer to the cat to get more accurate read? Thanks

are you putting in a turbo or supercharger? Think you mentioned a supercharger at some stage yeah? :-)
If so, then yes, no harm in moving it further away. If not, then just stick with the oem 4 wire sensor.

It's a supercharger. Have Ms3 and got aem wideband in today. Makes sense to move it down really and will give a chance to wrap headers as well.

I would just replace the existing sensor. Sure it doesn't do harm to move it further, but it doesn't help either, so no point for the extra hassle of adding a bung.

Guys,
In an n/a car, is it ok to just throw it in where the oem O2 sensor is? I cant see why not, just making sure.

Yes, no problem. If you intend to run the wideband with the stock ECU, most of THE Wideband kits have a narrowband-style output so you can keep the feedback to the stock ECU
