major surgery on one of the fleet

The Jeep ('96 2.5td) was regularly popping a pushrod from under a rocker arm (GRRR previous owner didn't mention anything of course..), so decided to fix it properly.

Headgasket, hydraulic lifters, push rods etc replaced. (Thanks to Frank for the help!)
Then a week later (last Monday) it snapped a rocker post bolt, now back on the road (Yaay), still has a couple of niggles but can fix those at my leisure.

This is how it all starts..

Always need a hammer.. even if you don't ;-)

So, after removing intake pipes, coolant, rad, fan, intake manifold, exhaust manifold (grrr hate that bolt at the back!), coolant manifold, rocker assemblies, grill, injectors (nightmare) and head bolts, I can see this : Sooty cylinder ... "great"

Heads are off

Fished out the hydraulic lifters with a magnetic tool thing, VERY easy to drop them into the sump here..

Cleaned up heads with new head gasket

oil up the cylinders

Frank happy as a pig in s***

Tightening head bolts

Rocker assemblies back in

Almost done

After 8 months off the road (not offroad), its back in action!

I think i see your problem mate, you seem to have a frank stuck in your engine bay.
I've heard they can be hard to fix but if you go to a motor factors and ask for a FBH that should do the trick.
Hope that helps
Ash

Only messin, fair play to ya for getting it fixed looks major work. And i gotta say it looks like a nice motor.
Lets off road!!!!!!!!!!!!
