In my case, it relates to a 1990 Eunos 1.6 Automatic Japanese import.
How much should it cost to replace a timing belt?
Is there an easy way to lubricate windows so the regulator doesn’t have to work so hard?
How hard is it to replace a speedo or tach face plate and should it be black and white?
What’s the next event in the County Kildare area?
What are good or bad oil pressure readings and what are warning signs?
Is the indicator always on the right side of the steering column?
Is there a reasonable way of getting the indicator on the left side of the column and the windsheid/windscreen wiper control on the right?
I’m in love with my car already and want to make sure I’m taking care of her, what are the major pitfalls to keep a look out for. I want her healthy enough to push her a little.

I might just replace the speedo for one in Kilometers, is it difficult?

No need to replace it, you can get Km overlay that sticks on top. Try www. MX5parts.co.uk or autolinuk.
BTW: welcome to the fold and enjoy your new-found wheels. I've no doubt you will.

Hi Jaybond
I'm in Newbridge,
If you're replacing the timing belt, then you should go the whole hog and do the water pump as well. I have a mate near Newbridge who could do it all for ya, but I can't give a price. HE'S GOOD AND WONT RIP YOU OFF. Will cost nothing to have him throw his eye on the car and give a quote.
I assume your windows are electric and labouring. If you like we can do that job some evening if you wanna drive as far as Newbridge, takes about an hour or an hour and a half to do.
John K already answered the speedo question.
No immediate Kildare events planned, but look in the "runs" thread for details of the camping trip...we also welcome day trippers if camping is not your thing.
Oil pressure reading, just make sure your levels are ok. reading drops when oil heats up and engine idles.
Indicator stalk...yes, as is.
wouldn't attempt to rotate the stalk positions. Why would you want to do this anyway?. Bet you've been driving non japanese prior to the 5??
take your time, don't push it until you're comfortable in her.
Hope to see you soon,
John

Wow! I'm blown away. Thanks so much. I definitely have an hour and Newbridge is a hop and a skip. It just had the water pump replaced so he may have done the timing belt, I will ask on Monday. The thing that I'm most nerves about right now is the trani fluid. I started to add some and it really improved the shifting. I'm not even sure if the fluid had reached the dip stick yet so I keep adding it a little at a time. My guess is that it will be apparent when it is at the right level. It takes a while for the fluid to settle enough to see.
I haven't seen any puddles after parking so I'm wondering how it got so low.
What's the best way to meet up in Newbridge?

Jaybond, my number is 087/2656053. You let me know what suits and I'll check my availability. The weather will play a part too as I don't have a garage. If you have one it might be handier for me to trip down to Athy??
John
