Postby aaron eunos » Sun, 22 Jun 2014 2:45 +0000

Hi lads just looking for info on what ecu to use tthat wont break the bank and that are reliable. Im going to turbo my own car and im looking for a ecu that can have launch control, a anti lag map and a eco map is it possible to have all these features and be able to switch or am i dreaming.

Can a megasquirt system do this ? As i seem to see alot of people usig these units

Megasquirt will do this. You can have separate maps for power and economy but one properly tuned map will cover all the bases.
Launch control will need a switch on your clutch pedal wired back to the ecu.
Anti lag works off same switch on clutch and also an on off switch to enable the anti lag.
Its very bad for the turbo though.

Which version of megasquirt can do this. Its can be set up to do propper anti lag spooling of turbo all the time and not just cutting spark like a bee*r . Being hard on the turbo dosnt bother me my cousin has a couple of spare gt 25turbos lyin about from over the years :-D

Think the ms2 and diypnp have basic anti lag but the ms3 should have a pile of settings for different ways to set up anti lag.
Does your mate have any spare gt25 turbo in good nick going cheap my way? Are the ball bearing turbos?

The "launch" and "flat shift" features are on all 3 generations of Megasquirt. The Antilag one has been implemented on MS3, and then back-ported on MS1. I don't think that MS2 ever had it, but I can be wrong..
GT25s are small turbos, so they should spool nicely without having to torture them anyway :D

MS2 enhanced is probably your best best. reverant over on Nutz can build you one, but you need to give him all the details of your build so he can provide you with a decent base map. He also provides IAT sensors, Silicone boost hose, USB adapter for a laptop, and an electronic boost controller. I got all of this off him, as well as an installation disc for the laptop. It was definitely not cheap, and the most expensive part of my build, but I am assured in the quality and reliability of these units.
If you find a good mapper too, he should be able to help you set up what you need. Where are you based?

I'd go for a TD04, from a Subaru or a Saab..

I don't mean to derail this thread, just curious which Saabs came with a TD04? Was it the high pressure models?
I've just removed a dead Garrett GT-17 from a Saab 9-5 which I'd planned on replacing when its rebuilt but a TD04 would be great if it was a direct replacement.

The mangled one :

The TD04HL-15T is from the Aero range, with the 2.3 engine. My Saab 9-5 Aero had one, I reckon they take more abuse than the Garrett counterpart..
From your picture it looks like the turbo swallowed something, and any turbo would do the same!

A t25/t28 is good to reach that power, but a proper BB TD04 is the job. It all depends on what you're starting with, and the supporting mods you'll be applying. A decent size intercooler, good exhaust/manifold, ECU, and injectors would easily see you hit 220 if mapped right.

Manifold would be made by myself more then likely. 1.8eunos but here is the wish list ms pnp 2 intercooler off sr engine maybe rx7 injectors. Exhaust be home made 3 inch. The dream is for 250hp at the wheels

How nuch are the ecu now a days i dont want to build it so MS pnp2

A mate of mine is like a kid in a candy store when you give him something to solder. He might build a diypnp if you give him a few quid. Might even have you running on a safe map to get home on.
