help with a few things?

Postby jaffa20 » Mon, 19 Jul 2010 11:35 +0000

Hi all, i'm new to the forum. Just bought my new mx5 recently and loving it but looking for some advise on stlyling. Here's a list of possible things i'd like to maybe add to it over time:

Chrome trim interior
Chrome handbrake and gearstick
Clear side indicators
Scuff plates
Leather seats (hopefully) or covers.
Stick on numberplate (will keep original for nct)
Hartop (i can probably live without it though)
Can you guys think of any other necessities?

I've been looking around at parts on the net and i'm amazed at the cost of some of the small things like chrome interior and i'm a bit tight for money after buying the car itself. :( I'm probably gonna do these over time due to the cost as a bit tight on money. Was looking at mx5parts and found them expensive. Are there any other options out there? Would leather covers really look too tacky? I'm not able to find any on the net at all.

Btw, my mx5 is a 02 mk 2.5 1.6.

Thanks for all your help/advice in advance and hopefully you can point me in the right direction. :)

Hi Jaffa..welcome.

By skirt plates do you mean sill plates?
Some members have managed to fit leather covers on their seats and they look the part.
Hardtops are scarce enough, but you might get lucky.

Wouldn't classify any of the proposed mods as "necessities", but the sky's the limit if your wallet's big enough...otherwise take your time and shop around.

Happy hunting

John

Hey, did you change your post while I was typing or am I going mad??

Hi John!

Thanks for the reply. Yeah i dunno where i got skirt plates from. I knew i was wrong after rereading it

I'm not in a mad panic for a hardtop for the moment. It's probably a sensible thing to get for our winters but i'm sure i'll manage for now at least. My wallet isn't massive unfortunately. What do you think should be the necessities on my list just out of curiousity? Do you think i should be focusing on a k&n filter and such before i get into the styling? Probably would be sensible but would there be a massive difference?

You're right though, i'll take my time and look around. Not much stuff on ebay for mk 2.5's at all which is unfortunate. Mite just treat myself to something small each month come payday :D

Thanks again.

just watch if buying from england as shipping is expensive, so try and get a few things together as shipping will cost you the same as for 1 item. the other alternative is if you have any connections in NI get them delivered there as shipping is about 1/3 the price.
