Too Loud For Me!!

Postby gasha » Fri, 21 Feb 2014 2:37 +0000

Hi all I have a 1.8 MK 1 Eunos with a MK5 parts dual exhaust fitted, this exhaust is far to loud for me, is there anyway I could reduce the noise level from this exhaust or will I have to replace it with another make like the racing beat dual, I hear good reports on this one?
My car has the standard catalyst box fitted.
Hope ye can help me out.
Thanks

Is the MX5parts a complete exhaust?

Have a look if there aren't any leaks, they can make a quiet exhaust loud.
If it's just loud by nature, possibly adding an extra silencer where possible? For the MK1 you can get silencers that replace the catalytic converter or some mid pipes with added silencers

I had the mx5parts single exit on my mk1 and not loud or intrusive at all ,it really sounded good .
Nico is right make sure that there are no leaks and remember that a decat pipe and /or induction kits will make the car louder . The double exit according to the reviews on mx5parts also seem to say that they are louder ! Robert would be a good place to source a single exit standard quiet exhaust .
Best of luck

Hi Guys thanks for the advice, I have no leaks on the exhaust so I think I need to get an extra silencer fitted as suggested by Nico.
As for going back to a single outlet exhaust as my local Indian guy in our Indian restaurant says to some female customers: "ounce you go black you wont go back" well that saying is a bit like my exhaust if I go back to single outlet I will be left with a cut out on the left of the bumper, not much good!!!
I see Souhan exhaust getting a good recommendation over in Trim so I might see if there is a good exhaust garage here in the west.
Any recommendations for a good exhaust dealer in the west area anybody?

I'm in the Loughrea area.

Thanks to all
Gasha.

worth talking to Calbro's Exhaust centre on the Tuam Rd in Galway, I've had some hangers welded on for mine by them in the past, they are down the ramp here :

Also, I had a janspeed resonated cat-pipe previously too, it helped bring the noise level down a bit.
