Hello every one,
I have an original mx5 windscreen that has been repaired with stone chip
holes many times.
One of these repairs is deteorating, the repair site has 9 new thread cracks
moving outwards. The company that repaired it is gone out of business.
I have visited two windscreen repair shops, the first one I got a bad vibe from.
The second one, the repair man had a look at it and said he would not repair
it because superglue was used to fill the hole and it has fused the outer and
inner glass of the windscreen together.
He suggested that I replace the whole screen.
I don't really want to replace my screen if at all possible.
If I do replace the screen, I would only get a glass quality approved
screen through my insurance company. If I want a Mazda screen my
Insurance won't cover it.
I would like some feedback please

I think your over thinking this. If the one provided through your insurance had any issues they wouldn't use them. I believe all your paying for is mazda putting there stamp on the glass.
If its a MK1 Eunos the slightly thicker glass can only be a bonus for strength.

I personally would just claim off the insurance as with that many repairs on your own windscreen it cannot be deamed safe in a collision.

I agree with Andy. Any reputable/well-known windscreen place should be fine. I've never had an issue with any replacements
from the like of Auto Glass etc.

Agree with guys above.

Have replaced mine twice, am happy to have the thicker glass now.
If yours has a tint, talk to the insurance approved company they should be able to supply whichever matches your current window (green or blue are available I think).

I called to. My worry is getting a replacement
and it being a sloppy job. I have seen some
terrible refits, with rain getting into the cockpit.
So far I have such a bad trust with anyone

If its not fitted properly inform the insurance company and they'll have it fixed. They normally get a reputable company to do the work.
If they didnt do a good job the insurance company would never use them in the first place.

As above go for it .Its not complicated to fit windscreen as its bonded in.Rarely if ever they leak afterwards if fitted by proper glass company and you will have guarantee.

My 99 passed her Nct with the
Original windscreen. I have decided
to put a windscreen clear patch
over the degenerating repair for now.
I am hoping the hairline crack
Does not travel too fast across
my screen.
