Hi guys, I'm driving a ridey little Mark 1 which I'm in love with.

I recently decided I needed a new radio, the old one was turning the volume down instead of up and didn't have an aux input. In my attempt to take out the radio I ended up braking the center console, it was extremely brittle. I ordered a new center console and went about installing my new radio. To my surprise there was nothing supporting the old radio, it appears to have to just been sitting on top of the cubby hole. After a bit of research I have read about a cage bracket but cannot find much information on if this is what I need or where I may be able to purchase one. Does anyone know where I could get a bracket if it is what I need?

You can get a cage to fit in there from halfords or the like. Slots in then you bend the tabs up to hold in place, a lot of original radios were secured with metal brackets screwed to side of headunit and dash unit.

I have a cage and it slots in through the center console but has no support at the back, this leads the radio to be insecure and at an angle. Is there a bracket for inside the center console?

Is there some restriction at the back of the radio? If not, remove the head unit and fix the receiver cage to the console by folding the tabs against the console, then re-insert the radio.

I have been busy, but hope to try your suggestion soon, I had to do a DIY jobbie on the wiring so there are a few more wires than before but I'll check it out.

Mine did not have a cage, just 2 brackets, one on each side. They bolted into the radio and the cubby. So, a DIY option is to get predrilled or perforated metal sheats and cut your own ones. But a radio cage from halfords and the likes would be to prefer
