Sealing cracks in my roof?

Hi guys, I've been struggling with a leak on the passenger seat for a while now. My latest thought is that it's caused by cracks in the waterproofing of the hood. (It's a Moss hood, about 5 years old.)

Any thoughts on what (if anything) I might use to seal them?

Simon,

As a temporary measure you could try Gaffer tape (waterproof) from a hardware store. I have used it on mine - have to renew it every couple of weeks, but seems to keep the water out in the short term - of course you have to know where the cracks are !!

I plan to renew my roof this year (finances permitting) Mx5parts.co.uk currently have their genuine Mazda hoods reduced - still going to cost the guts of €750.00 plus shipping for a Mohair !!

Ok - scrap the Gaffer tape - came off today when I lowered the hood - went for a short spin at lunchtime to get some rays - anyways on lowering the hood, the tape cam off - on lifting the hood back up - my small hole had developed into a much larger tear about 4 inches long - quick trip to Woodies on way home and patched up with waterproof "repair tape" clear colour = new hood required much sooner then finances planned.

Anyhows, quick look on the internet for a new mohair hood for mkII turned up the following:-

mx5parts.co.uk = €775.00 delivered - genuine mazda hood
www.webcars.net = €1295.00 fitted
www.mazda-mx5-shop.com = €520.00 delivered

Has anyone any other options that they know of. I would'nt mind attempting to fit it myself - although I believe a Pop Rivet Gun would be required and 5 plus hours. I recall someone somewhere quoting €200 !! for a hood - any ideas ??

Any assistance on the best option would be appreciated.

Thanks

Robin
