V.happy with the mohair I bought from Jack Smyth, trimmers in Wales, a number of years ago. Worth giving him a buzz for a price. If you search the forum you'll find his number.

Not to start a new thread on this, I'm looking to get a new hood for my NB and just wondering about peoples experiences with different brand hoods. I was going to head to Smiths in Swansea but I think the cost and time of the journey makes it more cost prohibitive. So now I am looking to just get a hood delivered and fit myself. Can anyone weigh in on experience with any of the following hoods? Quality, fit, value for money, etc? I am specifically looking for a black mohair hood with heated rear glass window.

- Robbins stayfast canvas
- Car Trimming Company mohair
- Dandycars.com mohair
- BAS International mohair

Most these days are pretty good. I fitted one recently from Dandycars on someone else's car, very easy to fit.
Also, ask Smyths about sending over for a self-fit too.

I fitted my own ,supplied from mazmania in England. Good quality mohair with glass heated screen and rain rails fitted well and looks great 375 pounds on the mk1.
Best of luck with it

Awesome! Thanks guys. That mazmania hood looks like a nice tidy job actually especially with the window rails. Did it take you long to fit Brian?

First time it will take time ,took me most of the day ,fitting rain rail etc but next time it would be quicker . It came with a fitting dvd so that helped as well. Still looks good and keeps the rain out . Make sure your working inside !Also worth getting two tension cables and fitting those as well.
My no. is 086 8165151 if you want to talk to me in person about it .

Sound Brian. I might take you up on that. Did you fit the roof with the frame on the car or off?

The frame stayed on the car worked out ok the only problem was drilling out and fitting two pop rivets down in the bottom of each side a right angled drill attachment would work well here , but its not a huge job to move/remove the frame if it came to it .

Looking for a black roof I'm afraid and want to go mohair as I tend to drop the roof a bit in the winter.

Can I trouble you for a drivers side vent window glass for a mk 2 though?
