Solution to the split roof problem for Mk2 owners

Postby Zanto » Tue, 22 Jul 2008 4:47 +0000

If you own an early MK2 you probably have 2 small rips on either side of the roof near the head rest.

Apparently the reason for this is that the side plates of the roof frame are rubbing or pinching against the roof.

Mazda realised this and released an upgrade to the side plates, I think the MK2.5 version has these fitted already.

I asked MX5parts.co.uk to source a pair which they did, so I have them on order now, £30 each.

I'm replacing my vinyl soft top to a mohair one and I didn't want the same problem to appear again.

Thought some of you with similar problems might find this useful to know.

Cheers,
Zanto.
