Postby sean4344 » Sat, 08 Mar 2014 10:25 +0000

failed test the other day on a few small bits but the emissions have me worried. it failed on high idle, wasnt that much over tho. what should i do to solve this? the tester said i had a few holes in the exaust that wud affect the reading, plus i had the termostat out n she was running real cold

Holes in exhaust are a no no.We have good used exhaust if you want one and you need thermostat in as they check engine temp by oil so that affects readings also. 086 8226506

Put about 1/3 litre of Dipethane in fuel before you go for retest and have clean air filter.Apart from that there is something else wrong??You can get Dipethane in any motor factors for 10e for 1 ltr but only use 1/3 at a time.Do not use other products as this is tried and tested.

Had that problem with a golf. Emissions were way out. All down to a small leak just before the back box. I'd say when the exhaust is fixed it will fly through.

What were the exact results?

Yup, sounds like the cat alright. Put a 94 thru the NCT last year. Same thing.

We have a selection of cats but you need to measure the overall length incl flanges etc or bring up the old one .They are bolt in type for mk1 usually. 086 8226506
