Hi guys,
Fitted Koni Street shocks and Tein springs all round to my Mark1 1996.
All works great, not too stiff, handles well but the rear springs creak/squeak like old bed springs.
Front set has no problem, and the full set are fitted with those non-squeak rubbers?
Any quick solution? Has anyone else had this problem?
All bushings are fine, everything fitted correctly, just squeak-squeak.

Hi John
Did you fit the little plastic gaskets that go between the upper shock mount and the chassis of the car ?
A slathering of copper grease between all of the parts (spring to shock, shock to body) also hels

Franks right about the gasket that goes between the shock mount and chassis,
but just out of interest did you make sure the shock mount was holding the coilover properlly ie was not sitting crooked or properly on top of the spring.
It should hold the coilover set up nice and sweet.
Some get squeeks if they torque the suspension parts while the car is on axle stands as you are putting loads of preload on the bushes all torqueing up should be done while the car is on its wheels you dont have too if you have polybushes fitted.

Thanks for the replies.
Yes the plastic spacers are in place, all fitted snug and tight.
If I push down on the rear of the car it will squeak and squeak again as the suspecsion re-expands.
I read on another forum that if you fit a stiffer suspension you can get squeaks coming from the chassie?
Firstly I will give the grease a try as everything was fitter dry--out of the box.
I had no squeak with the original set-up but on shock and one spring was
*£%$!")^$%£* so I decided to replace with the Koni and Tein set-up.
The squeak is not noticeable when driving, but when driving slow, speed-bump etc, getting in and out of the car (Old bed springs).
The grease sounds practical, will let yeah know how things go when I get a chance to grease it up.
Thanks lads.

Forgot to mention did you check the state of your ARB[anti-roll bar] bushings as i had this problem on my mates car when we lowered it squeeking away.
It turned out they were bolloxed so we ditched them fitted new ones and applied some grease to the bar job was a goodun.
When you buy upgraded ARBs they actually supply special grease with the bars and new bushings.
Its worth a shot.
