I have a K&N typhoon fitted to my 1.8 mk 2.5
Should I advance the timing gents? And yes I do want it to go faster at the detriment to the environment.

I don't think its possible on that engine without some modification as the ECU will readjust to compensate AFAIR.

maybe its just the noise but i cant detect any improvement with the K&N at all. Ill wait till i adjust the timing but seems a waste of money.

update; got a decent Timing Light from E Bay and set timing to 14btdc....very difficult to see marks with all the P/S and A/C gubbins. Removed the last bend in the Inlet Trunking up to the bellows and put K7N on here. Filter is now behind Headlight unit. I will make up proper brackets as its nestling in front of shock mount. Car is now much more responsive at slight throttle and is as quite as standard almost . No room for the cold air trunking so brought it from grille up thro bonnet catch hole and directed it at filter.Happy days, Aimee is very pleased also. Most important. Mazdaspeed bar has stiffened up the rear big time.Must get some pics up when i make a shield up.
