Hey gang!

I had a great night last night on the way homo from work.

All good till suddenly there was no heat from the window demister, then metal knocking noise.. then temp spiked.
I pulled over and could smell burn so shut off the engine.
Waited till cool and checked the coolant, oil, Alternator belt, Water pump.
All fine. The coolant was down by a litre but topped it quick enough.

Waited till engine cold and made a break for home.
Got to the top of the Airport Hill in Cork, as temp slowly climbed. Finally got to top of hill and pulled over.

Once cool i spotted that the coolant was not refilling the rad.
Opened the rad cap and it was bone dry.

It took 6 litres of water to refill. Until I spotted leak.
Neighbour checked it over and now I need a new Thermostat housing.

My question is:

Do I pay €150 for a new one here, or the 50 on mx5 parts.
Will the part for my 5 be guaranteed to fit?
I haven't got anything from them yet so unsure about returns.

Thanks everyone!

MX5parts are very reliable, I bought load of stuff from them, and have never been disappointed. I had to replace my Thermostat housing about 1.5 years ago, I bought it from them. While your replacing it, you may as well get a new thermostat and don't forget the gasket and the Thermostat Housing O Ring.

It's a bit of an awkward job to replace the housing as the timing belt needs to come off, so you may as well replace that as well. Others will also advise to change the water pump as well, but I didn't.
