Surely only an issue if you're taking it on a track??

I think that it's possible to alter that limiter, kinda recall reading something about it in the past..anyone else know anything??

Why wold you be gutted about that it would take you a long time to get to 135 in a mx5! And where would you ever do it?? You certainly won't do it on any track in Ireland.

And by the way it's 112mph not 115 ;)

have a look at the back of the speedo cluster, find the G / 180kph trace to a small screw and just remove it.

97" originaly the slower 90bhp model, but the engine has been swapped for an older engine

Neither the 114 bhp NA6CE nor the 130 bhp 1.8 NA8CE will do 135 mph in standard form. Around 120 is their lot
really if you're lucky. The speedo will always read a little optimistic at the high end of the scale. A road test of the
1.6 in 1990 topped out at 116 mph.
Of course if your engine is not standard then it might be possible.

hmm, thats probably it anyway.. it just felt as though the car could do more. as in it wasnt really struggling to reach the 112mph to start with

That's true - all home market cars in Japan are limited to 112 mph there (or at least were at that time). But even an unrestricted Eunos won't gain much speed
wise. It's just that law there dictates cars can't exceed 112 mph. Cars like Imprezas and Lancer Evo's really lost out as they were capable of far more.
