anti-roll bar moving

hey over the last few days the car has got a lot worse than what it was.
it was brilliant but now the back end seems to be all over the place
and i looked underneath the car and the anti-roll bar is able to move from
side to side fairly easy which is leading me to think that the links are the problem
anybody able to help?

unless a link broke perhaps, but i doubt thats the problem. Whats wrong exactly?

when you look at the roll bar you cant see where it has been moving sideways
at the rubbers i thought it should move very little. the car feels tthe very same to
drive as the girlfriends almera and that has no anti-roll bars at all. the rear end feels
all over the road and i checked the coilovers and they look fine dont look to be leaking or
anything like that and no banging outa them.

It will move a wee bit but not enough to upset the suspension geometry. If you can move it up and down then just replace the bushes.

i can move it sideways between 1 to 2 inches which i thought it shouldnt move dat much at all sideways

It sounds like you have No drop links. Can't see how it could move that much with them.

they are definitely there mite throw a set in see if it cures it as they are only 35 euro

it is designed to allow sideways movement so dont worry about that. Fact that you can move it so easily means bushes are shagged. Get new poly ones and you'll be grand.

Hmmm... the antirollbar failing would tend to be noisy (clunky or squeaky) rather than cause geometry changes in the suspension. At least the bushes are cheap, as are the drop-links, so it's easy to rule out.

However wear in the subframe bushes would definitely lead to a 'squishy' feeling in the rear of the car, and a feeling that something is loose back there, particularly over bumps, potholes and ramps. It would also lead to wear in the rear tyres, which worn antirollbars wouldn't. Subframe bushes aren't hard to replace, but definitley more difficult than the ARB bits

replaced the rear links and bushes which seem to have made it a lot better but i think i have a coilover f***ked now
