NCT Emissions fail

Readings Limits
Low Idle CO 8.58 VOL% above 3.50%
(840rpm) HC 458ppm above 750ppm
Well guys, car failed on CO with colours the other night and I'm hoping ye can help. Looking around here on other threads, someone else had similar reading and someone pointed out that it could be a air flow/MAF sensor problem. Is there a way of testing these parts rather than just getting a second hand one and chancing it for another NCT only to fail again? Over the weekend I'm hoping to try test my lambda with the multimeter test and the cat using the thermometer test so I can source parts that I do need before Christmas holidays make that impossible before my retest date passes. All help is greatly appreciated. Thanks
