Rear Brake Disc HELP!

Postby DJ168 » Sat, 13 Nov 2010 1:41 +0000

Just wondering if anyone can help with the following.

I'm in the process of changing the rear discs on my 94 eunos. The main 30mm nut that holds the disc on to the shaft is seezed solid. Can anyone tell me if its a Left Hand thread? . . or if not it needs some serious persuation.

I don't have an air gun or any gas bottles to heat it up to get it off. I've tried a bar but it won't move and don't want to try any further until I find out for deffinate wether or not it might be a left hand thread

any ideas or techniques would be greatly appreciated!!!!

thanks

Dave

Hi Dave, You do not need to remove the 30mm nut that only holds the hub on. Take off the brake calliper and the mounting bracket and then the disk is free to come away. You may need to get a bolt that fits the threaded hole in the face of the disk ( the one that holds the jack in the boot fits!!!) and screw it in to pop the disk loose. That or some gentle persuasion with a rubber mallet.

DAVE, DO NOT UNDO THAT HUB NUT, ASSUMING YOU HAVE REMOVED THE CALIPERS OUT OF THE WAY THE DISC SHOULD COME OUT WITH A FEW GENTLE TAPS FROM BEHIND.

Thanks guys . . . just assumed the nut held the disc on as it is totaly solid. I'd say it's the original factory disc so has been on for 17 years!!!

I'll introduce it to the rubber mallet!!!!

thanks again
