engine code location??

hi all,
new to this forum and not a mazda expert!! hoping to pick someones brain, i have an mazda engine but not from an mx5 its from a 323f, its a 2ltr v6 engine and box and the car was a 97, any ideas where i would find the engine code or anybody have any figures for the outputs, are they a good project engine or not etc???
