RustGoing in for my NCT next Tuesday, having a quick look around the rear of the car. Lots of rust on the exhaust pipe from the box to the back of the cat, particularly around the bracket where the pipe from the box meets the pipe from the cat. Also plenty of surface rust on the sub frame. Don't think it will fail on this as it is only surface rust. However, given my OCD tendencies, I would like to clean it up. Was thinking of giving it a light brush off with a wire brush, should I spray with Waxoll or this there something else I should do. Given the the 5 rides high at the back, it does look ugly, so any suggestions would be great. Thanks

![]() Re: RustYou could wire brush and then do the suspension with a rust treatment, lots out there, turns it blue/black then prime and satin black it.
Or do it right coat it in Bilt Hamer Deox gel remove all the rust then prime/paint. Or really go to town and get it blasted and powder coated black. All depends on your budget and the time available ![]() Life moves pretty fast; if you don't stop and look around once in a while, you're gonna miss it!
![]() Re: RustMine is the same it was an English import... Passed the last time! The guy did poke is a lot with a screw driver. Nct is due again soon, so fingers crossed.

Re: RustNCT passed with no problems; in fact the guy called it a "peach" of a car so I am well chuffed. Now do I really need to tidy up the rust.........

Nice one Paschal, re-assuring to know that I'll be travelling to Barcelona as a co-pilot in a mechanically competent "peach" ![]() ![]() ![]() God, that trip is just over the horizon now....I'm starting to get excited already! ![]()
![]() Re: RustHi
I did the underside of the 5 with shultz. ( thin black tar like). It makes the car look like new. Or get an old garden weed sprayer, fill with a ltr of waxoil, then stand in a bowl of hot water for 15 mins Waxoil goes very thin when warm, spay all under car ( except exhaust and brake disc's) ![]() To Feel Is To Believe !
Re: Rustgood tip but make sure you use a rust treatment beforehand.
The perfection of a Car's beauty is that nothing should be there for beauty's sake.
