Seller beware!!!!

Postby MickyB » Wed, 30 Nov 2011 9:44 +0000

Hi folks, just to share something that happened to someone I know last weekend in the hope it could prevent it happening again. The guy is selling his car a family size Toyota diesel and took a phonecall from someone wanting to view the car on Sunday. They organised a place to meet and three guys arrived in a very respectable car. Two of them went up the road for a test drive and the seller stayed with the other guy and their car. They arrived back chatted for a while made a silly offer which was declined and they left. He got back in his car to go home but noticed the car was down on power and not driving right, he pulled over popped the bonnet and the air-flow meter had been taken. €300 new approx. I know he made a big mistake by not going on the test drive and in my opinion he's lucky they even came back with the car and that most people on here would not do same but I said id put it out there anyway just in case. If this helps one person its worth it.

I know, it would turn your stomach. 99.99% of people are genuine but when you get caught out by the 0.01% you feel so stupid
