Anti Roll Bar

Postby sspecdave » Thu, 01 May 2008 12:51 +0000

Have just installed polybushes all round and cant believe the difference they have made . But there is a problem. When i went to fit the rear Anti roll bar poly bushings they are to big . I measured the anti roll bar and it is 11mm but the polys are 12mm. Ordered genuine bushes from Mazda and they fitted no problems .They measured 11mm also.
So my question is what is the correct size of rear Anti roll bar and has anyone else experienced the same problem :?:
Dave.

Got them from MX5 parts the complete set of bushes front/rear/anti roll.
Were'nt exactly cheap and a nightmare to fit but very happy with the results The old bushes were'nt that bad after 16 years of use/abuse but have really noticed how tight and planted the car seem to be on the road and alot of those annoying rattles/squeaks seem to be gone !
As for the rear anti roll bushes when i fitted them there was defo to much play and they did not offer any support to the bar.
Any chance you could measure the anti roll bar you have fitted incase the bar fitted to my Sspecial is different .

I fitted the same bushes.did you use a torque wrench when tighting them it is only 20ftlbs but it gets a firm grip to bar just be careful you dont tighten to much as the subframe fitting snaps easily.i had a gap in the front lower wishbone front bush did you?

Ya torqued all the bolts but as i said previous when i measured the bar it is only 11mm and is not showing any corrosion/wear but the bush measured 12mm and even installed you could see light through the bush and inmo they would not offer any support to the bar like the original mazda ones do which are agood tight fit. Ash is coming down next week so will measure his anti roll bar to compare.
As for the lower front i did'nt notice any gap they all seemed to fit and have'nt caused any probs since although will have to get alignment done when the bed in.
What did you do to sort out the the gap at the front ?
