Thanks for the support guys:) not gonna let some scumbags stop me from having another one and i suppose it gives me the chance to find a nice rs model:) no point in letting all me shiny new parts go to waste

Ah John, so sorry to hear that. There was an attempt to steal my 5 a week ago. F.cking bastards!!!

Btw, I have a cctv footage of the three tracksuited scumbags with hoodies trying to steal my. It seems one knows how to do it while the other two were just tagging along.

Just came back from the garage where my is being repaired and they got 5 MX5s in the last seven days broken into and stolen. Some are to be scrapped as they're badly damaged some are to be repaired.
The guy who's a manger there has an mk1 himself and he said he never seen such a spate of stolen Mx5s. That's only one garage. I wonder would the Garda be aware of this. There's plenty of CCTV around my area and they might have been seen on cameras coming and going as well as it can't be that suddenly all scumbags decided to have a go at Mx5s.

Tomasso: can I answer D) none of the above?

Lately all I seem to read about is mx5s being broken into  I do wonder if that video has helped the scum realise what we knew all along; that the mx5 is an amazing car...

On another note I've been looking at other alternative replacements and I cant see anything else on the roads these days that would tempt me away from another 5 lol

Am I going to be banned from this forum for not actually owning a 5 anymore? lol

Edited to remove.. well see reillys post

As mentioned earlier by Frank, the mk1( in it's original mode) is probably one of the easiest cars to hot-wire. The scumbag fraternity have obviously got wind of this and are on a rampage. We all must take responsibility for securing our cars, otherwise we're gonna be looking at even harsher insurance rates, and God knows they're f*cking high enough already :x

Panda, i'll bring you for a spin in mine if you're getting withdrawal symptoms! :)

I'm sure the next 5 you get will be even better, but it doesn't stop me feeling sorry for the old one :-/

Thanks Amri I appreciate that offer. I might quote it so you cant change your mind remove the post

Leamyj: Only realised lately how easy it was to hotwire once all these attempted break ins started happening. :( Too late though. Ill know for the next one what the first "mod" is goin to be

Does the hardtop offer much in protection for the mk1s? Heard stories of these being stolen too while on the car...

Well, can i make a suggestion? If anyone fits anything, removes anything, wires in anything to prevent theft will they please refrain from posting it on here for all to view.
